Fenwick boys volleyball
The Fenwick boys volleyball team is going through a difficult period, having lost 10 consecutive matches. On May 7, the Friars (2-13) lost to visiting Taft 10-25, 15-25. That was followed by a loss the next night at Montini (21-25, 22-25), and two more defeats at the Fremd Invitational, May 9-10, 15-25, 11-25 to Wheaton North, and 17-25, 13-25 to Rolling Meadows.
However, Fenwick coach Katie Whitman is keeping a positive attitude, despite the won-loss record.
“They’re fighting hard,” she said. “But when you have a freshman and multiple sophomores, it’s tough. They’re still learning and getting better every day.”

Against Taft, Will Griswold had five kills, Brian Riggs 14 assists, and Dom Tortorello three kills plus an ace.
“If you take a look at the games we’ve lost, we’ve gone to three sets in half of them,” Whitman said. “We’ve played a lot of close games that we haven’t been able to close out the win. But we’re trying to build momentum and get in a rhythm before the playoffs.”
Fenwick has two regular-season matches remaining: May 15 at St. Laurence, and May 20 versus De La Salle.
