How to Submit an Event to the Wednesday Journal, Forest Park Review, Riverside-Brookfield Landmark, or Austin Weekly News Community Calendar
This guide walks you through submitting your event to the Wednesday Journal’s online calendar. The process is the same for all four of our flags. The whole submission process takes about five to ten minutes, and there’s a free listing option as well as paid options.
Before You Start
You’ll need:
- An email address to sign up or log in
- Your event details: title, date, time, and venue
- A short summary and a longer description of the event
- An image for your event (JPEG or PNG, up to 5 images)
- A website link and contact information for attendees
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Go to the Events Page and Start Your Listing
Visit oakpark.com/events and click the “Sign In” button near the top of the page.

The Events page on oakpark.com, with “Sign In” at top left.
Step 2: Sign Up or Log In
Clicking “Sign In” opens the event platform (Evvnt) in a new tab. If it’s your first time, fill in your name, email, and phone number under “Sign Up,” agree to the Terms of Use, and click “Sign Up.” If you already have an account, click the “Login” tab instead and enter your email and password.
Step 3: Fill in Your Event Details
You’ll land on the event submission form. Fill in each field:
- Event Title – keep it clear and specific (100 characters max)
- Event Category – choose the category that best fits your event; you can add up to 3 categories
- Event Location – enter the venue name and address, or check “Virtual Event” if there’s no physical location
- Event Time – set the start date, start time, and end time; use “+ Multi-day Event?” if your event runs across several days
- Event Image – drag and drop or upload a JPEG or PNG image (up to 5 images, square or horizontal is best)
- Event Summary – a short, 200-character teaser that appears in print listings if featured
- Event Description – the full write-up of your event (up to 5,000 characters)
- Tags/Keywords – add a few keywords to help people find your event in search

The event details form, including title, category, and venue.
Step 4: Add Tickets, a Link, and Contact Info
Scroll down to finish the form:
- Does your event require tickets? – select Yes or No
- Event Link – choose a link type (such as Website) and paste the URL where people can learn more
- Contact Details – enter the Event Organizer Name, Event Contact Name, Email, and Telephone number that will display publicly so attendees can reach you
When everything looks correct, click the green “Next Step” button in the top right.
Step 5: Preview Your Listing
You’ll see a preview of exactly how your event will appear to the public on our website, including the date, location, image, and description. Review it carefully, then click “Continue” in the top right to proceed. Use “Previous Step” if you need to make changes first.
Step 6: Choose How to Promote Your Event
Next you’ll choose a promotion package. Three options are available at the top of the order box: Subscription, Single, and Free.

The Single package: paid syndication to 58 publishers reaching roughly 13 million monthly visitors.
- Free – lists your event on the Wednesday Journal calendar only (1 listing site), at no cost, with basic reporting. It might be included in our print calendar, but there is no guarantee.
- Single – a one-time paid package that syndicates your event to dozens of additional local publishers, calendars, and news sites that also use Evvnt for wider reach. This guarantees inclusion in our print calendar for 1 week, and a prominent placement on our website calendar until the event is over.
- Subscription – ongoing paid promotion for organizations that list events regularly.

The Free package option: no cost, one listing site, with the option to upgrade later.
Tip: Not sure which to pick? The Free option is a great place to start — you can always promote your event later, reach out to your sales rep Emma emma@oakpark.com, or Lourdes lourdes@oakpark.com to feature for multiple weeks, and more flexible options.
Select the package you want, review the price shown, and click the green button (“Checkout Now” for paid packages, or “Stay Free, Upgrade Later” for the free package).
Step 7: Complete Checkout (Paid Packages Only)
If you selected a paid package, you’ll be taken to a secure checkout page to enter payment details and complete your purchase. Free listings skip this step entirely.
Step 8: You’re Done!
Once submitted, you’ll see a confirmation message letting you know your event will be listed on the calendar within a few minutes. From here you can also promote your event via email, or use the buttons at the bottom of the page to view your events, add another package, copy this event, or create a new one.

Confirmation screen after a successful event submission.
Your event will then appear live on oakpark.com/events for the public to see. If you chose a paid option through the Evvnt platform, or with your sales rep, your event will be featured on oakpark.com/events and in our print event calendars.

If you run into any issues while submitting your event, look for the “Need help?” chat button in the bottom right corner of the submission form, or reach out to your sales rep Emma Cullnan emma@oakpark.com, or Lourdes Nicholls lourdes@oakpark.com directly.
