First United Church of Oak Park is a union church of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the United Church of Christ dedicated to sharing Christ’s radically inclusive love.  First United strives to be an inclusive expression of Christ’s body, celebrating diversity and finding unity in Christ. All are welcome, regardless of who you love, where you’ve come from, what religious background you have, or where you are on your faith journey.

First United is dedicated to creating programs and spaces for all ages. Children are welcome in worship and enjoy playing in our Pray Ground in the Sanctuary or in the pews with seasonally-themed activity bags. The Church also recognizes that families sometimes need a break, so there is professionally-staffed nursery care during Sunday morning for children under 5.  The Church has also taken steps to welcome the older members with an accessible sanctuary, assisted listening devices and large print bulletins available in worship, and a volunteer-led ride-to-church program.  Education programs similarly encompass all ages from Church School for ages birth to eighth grade, formal adult education programs on Sundays, and weekday Bible study for those who are retired or work from home and are looking for a break in the day.

First United strives to build community and connection outside of Sundays programs with  social opportunities for all ages. Families enjoy regular Parents Night Out opportunities, family days of service, and special seasonal events.  Youth and young adults meet regularly. The Midpoint (40s/50s) and Prime Time (60+) social groups plan regular activities throughout the year including dinners/breakfasts out, holiday gatherings, and volunteer opportunities with First United’s many mission partners.

The program year is just beginning, the planning is done, and there is so much in store for everyone!
