What is a Bike Boulevard? I honestly don’t know what that means.
If I am driving down the street and there is an oversized stencil of a bike and an arrow and it says “Bike Blvd,” does the arrow mean there is a Bike Boulevard up ahead or does it mean that I am on one and that is the direction of travel? It’s very confusing.
If it turns out that I am on a Bike Boulevard and I am aware of that, does that mean I’m not supposed to drive there? If that’s not the case, what’s the point of telling me that I’m on a Bike Boulevard if I’m not supposed to do anything different?
If a block that has standard parking signs is now striped for bike lanes instead of parking spaces, does that mean I’m not supposed to park there? That would eliminate one heck of a lot of parking.
Why does the village feel it’s necessary to have such large signage on the streets when other villages that have Bike boulevards simply have a little sign on the side of the road?
It would be helpful if the village would give some information to us about how to deal with this totally new situation. How about an email to everyone, explaining what’s going on with all these new bike measures.
Also, driving related: The most worrisome traffic violation I sometimes see is drivers and cyclists ignoring stop signs. So why are those annoying speed bumps placed in the middle of the block? Why not put them shortly before the stop signs?
Curious minds want to know.
