Howard A. Brundage III, 80, of Oak Park, formerly of Riverside, died on July 11, 2026. Born on Sept. 26, 1945, he was an All-American swimmer, who competed at both Fenwick High School and the University of Michigan. A lifelong athlete, he participated in two Chicago marathons, two triathlons, and continued with his passion for swimming. He also loved to study the Spanish language, birdwatching, and traveling with his wife, Julie.

Howard was the husband of Julie (nee Wendt) Brundage; the father of Howard (Jenny) Brundage IV, Chris Brundage and Ben (Nancy) Brundage; grandfather of Howie Brundage V, Eva (Asher) Shnaider, Chris (Katie) Brundage Jr., Nina (fiancé John) Brundage, Natalie (Ryan) Herman, Nicholas (fiancée Kaylana) Brundage, Emmett Brundage and Ben Brundage; great-grandfather of Howie VI, Ivy, and Zinnia Brundage, Mila Shnaider, Noi and Max Brundage, Maddox and Nora Thiery, and Remi, Easton and Camila Herman; brother of John (Mary) Brundage and Colleen Hoffman; and uncle and cousin of many.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Old St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 700 W. Adams St., Chicago on July 17. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery was private.
