Margaret “Maggie” Kenny (formerly Phillips), 80, died on Friday, May 29, 2026. Born on June 23, 1945, in Oak Park, she worked for over 30 years as a bank receptionist, most recently at Byline Bank in Oak Park. Her warm smile, kindness, and welcoming spirit left a lasting impression on countless customers and colleagues.

A woman of deep faith, she was a member of St. Giles Parish in Oak Park and St. Benedict in Fontana, Wisconsin. She will be remembered for her strength, independence, loving heart, quick wit, infectious laugh, and unwavering caring. She found joy in reading, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, entertaining friends, and sunny days aboard the boat on Lake Geneva. Her love, laughter and wisdom, will be remembered and missed.

Maggie was the wife of the late John (Tom) Kenny. Together, they raised two sons in River Forest, Tim (Jamee) and Kevin Kenny. Her grandchildren, Hunter, Oliver, and River, brought her joy, as did her grand-pups: Clover, Gator, Brody, and Zoey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lucille Phillips; her sister, Mary Ellen Phillips; and her brothers-in-law, Doug Peterson, James Kenny, Fred Reed, and Michael Kenny.

Visitation will take place on June 4 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Peterson-Bassi Chapels, 6938 W. North Ave., Chicago, and a funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at St. Giles Church, 1045 Columbian Ave., Oak Park at 10 a.m., with private entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
