Oak Park police are investigating an incident where robbers reportedly rammed their vehicle through the front window of a local gas station in order to steal an ATM. 

Four men were inside a Jeep that was rammed repeatedly into the front window of the Shell gas station in the first block of Harrison Street at Austin Boulevard until the car broke through the window. The suspects then entered the gas station and removed its ATM, according to Oak Park police records. 

The suspects then fled the scene in a black Dodge Charger. The incident occurred shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday April 30, according to police records. 

The damages and loss caused by the incident was unknown at the time of the police department’s report, according to police records. 

Assault on officer arrest 

Police arrested a Chicago teen accused of battering an Oak Park police officer and other offenses over the weekend. 

Police arrested the 19-year-old in the 900 block of North Harvey Avenue shortly before 2:40 a.m. Saturday, May 2. He was charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, resisting arrest and obstructing identification, according to police records. 

Robbery incident 

Three men appearing to be armed with guns approached the victim as she entered her residence in the first block of Washington Boulevard before forcing her inside just before midnight on April 24. The offenders took the victim’s Apple iPhone 12 from her hand, and then removed her wallet, her Apple MacBook pro, her Samsung tablet, and a gaming computer from her apartment before fleeing the residence, according to police records. 

Oak Park officers later found the victim’s cell phone in Chicago. Police located the rest of the stolen property and several replica firearms in the vestibule of the victim’s building, according to police. 

No loss or property damage was recorded in the incident, according to police. 

These items were obtained from Oak Park’s Police Department reports dated April 25 – May 3 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed a description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
