Oak Park police are investigating reports of an attempted kidnapping in the village over the weekend.
A man driving a silver colored Toyota Sienna with no registration approached an Oak Park woman in the 1000 block of Chicago Avenue at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, April 25. The suspect attempted to pick up the woman’s child and then attempted to grab the woman and pull her towards his vehicle, according to police.
The victim then began to strike the offender who then fled northbound in his vehicle, according to police.
Weapons and drug arrest
Oak Park police stopped a 45-year-old Texas man in reference to a deceptive practice investigation in the 1100 block of Lake Street shortly after 7 a.m. April 20.
Police ultimately arrested the man on charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, fraudulent identification card, possession of methamphetamine, two additional counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing identification, according to police.
DUI arrests
A 55-year-old Chicago man was involved in an accident in the 300 block of Madison April 23 and was found to be driving under the influence of drugs. The person was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance, according to police.
Oak Park police stopped a 45-year-old Savoy man for a traffic offense in the 1100 block of Madison Street shortly before midnight on April 23. Police arrested the man for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving on a revoked driver’s license, according to police.
These items were obtained from Oak Park’s Police Department reports dated April 22 – April 28 and represent a portion of the incidents to which police responded. Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated. We report the race of a suspect only when a serious crime has been committed, the suspect is still at large, and police have provided us with a detailed a description of the suspect as they seek the public’s help in making an arrest.
