The Oak Park Teachers Association (OPTA), the union representing District 97 teachers, recently announced their endorsement for three candidates running for the three open seats on the D97 school board on April 6.

The candidates who got the OPTA endorsement are: Jeremy Duffy, an education attorney who works as the Title IX and non-discrimination coordinator for Waukegan Public Schools; Nancy Ross Dribin, a former research analyst and member of D97’s iLearn Committee and the Beye PTO; and Venus Hurd Johnson, a sales account executive, who is also active in DivCo and the PTO Council.

“The Oak Park Teachers Association believes these candidates are needed to continue to move District 97 forward. The OPTA values diverse programming, a [holistic] approach to education, and a commitment to excellence,” the union said in a statement. “We have identified candidates with a clear vision for our district and alignment to our core beliefs.”
