An Oak Park apartment building at South Boulevard and Kenilworth was hit by lightning during Monday’s late night rainstorm. Police were called to the scene after smoke was reported to be coming from a section of the rooftop.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene just after 10 p.m. Monday. According to police at the scene, the top of the three-story, Victorian-style apartment building at 907 South Boulevard was struck by lightning but with no one injured. The top of the third-story tower on the building’s northeast was struck. Tenants reported seeing smoke shortly after the lightning strike, according to police.
Monday’s storm began around 7:30 p.m., drifting in and out heavy rain throughout the evening.
