Oak Park and River Forest residents are collectors of fine objects, some passed down through the generations. And we all accumulate many things in our attics and basements that could be treasures — or trash!
That’s why the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest was proud to partner with Leslie Hindman Auctioneers in a Feb. 19 event that attracted nearly 200 residents and visitors from as far away as Highland Park, Warrenville, Glen Ellyn, Sycamore and Aurora.
We were gratified by the overwhelming interest of those who brought their family treasures and other valuables to be appraised by five Leslie Hindman Auctioneers, professionals in fine arts, furniture, books, jewelry and decorative arts at “Family Heirloom or Flea Market Find: What’s It Worth?” We are grateful for the expertise offered by members of the Midwest’s leading auction house, and the patience of those who enjoyed visiting with other attendees as they waited for their turn.
The tremendous response and positive feedback has encouraged us to schedule another such event in the future to accommodate the interest of those turned away, and others who could not attend that day. Please check back at our website, www.oprfhistory.org, for details about such events and other upcoming activities like our eighth annual housewalk on April 16 that will feature the Tremendous Tudors of River Forest.
