What’s shaped like a dessert and travels up to 20 miles per hour? The Cupcake Car!

Oak Parker Don Rutledge says he got the brainstorm for a mobile unit shaped like a little cake while at the Burning Man festival (hmmm).

Rutledge built the tasty-looking transport in his garage, using a big battery, a modified kid’s bike, and a weird blend of engineering know-how and artistry.

Around Halloween, he took it for a maiden voyage.

The Oak Park Police, who stopped Rutledge as he was cruising contentedly in his big pink cupcake, have decided that it’s okay to let him pilot his pastry down the streets of our village.

It’s a great day in vehicular history.
