Tax dollars used to destroy trees at Field Park

In your online article, “Speed zones proposed near Oak Park parks” [News, Feb. 4], a beautiful photo of Field playground has been provided. I think everyone should view that photo to see what beauty, serenity and naturalness were present in that park prior to July 2007. That was when the park district; Gary Balling, executive director; Michael Grandy, head of buildings and grounds; Josephine Bellalta, landscape architect; and park commissioners, including the incumbent who is incomprehensibly seeking re-election, used some of your $1.5 million taxpayer money to destroy every tree that appears in that photograph.

An election is coming on April 5. Decide how your tax dollars should be spent.
