We were driving slowly up Austin Boulevard today in a slow line of traffic. As a result, we found ourselves sitting in front of the former West Suburban Hospital. We had the epiphany that this physical plant could offer an interesting option for affordable housing residences:

The property is already possessed of plumbing and electricity.

The property already has an available parking garage.

The property is located close to public transportation.

The façade could be preserved by both a functional exterior and respect for the value of true architecture.

If nothing else, the concept is worth discussion and a fiscally prudent feasibility survey.
