The re-zoning proposal is just incredibly stupid. Oak Park is an extremely small and overcrowded suburb already. Population density is about 11,600 persons per square mile. This is more (according to AI) comparable to the density of large and crowded U.S. cities like Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Jose (California), Minneapolis. Yet the median density of the average suburb in the U.S. is 1,800-2,000 persons per square mile. Oak Park is already 5-6 times denser than that. Where do we think we’re going to put everyone to please our overstepping village trustees? The density already overwhelms the parking capacity, narrow streets and sewer system.
