We are wondering why Wednesday Journal is not reporting on a very frightening incident that occurred on Aug. 9 at 2 a.m. on the 700/800 blocks of South Humphrey when there were 50 youth yelling and running down the street and cars jamming the street. When 911 was called, residents were advised to remain in their homes and that police from Chicago, Berwyn, Cicero, Forest Park, Elmwood Park and Oak Park were managing the situation. The area was bathed in red and blue light, the sounds of sirens and moving police cars. The key point is that there was no property damage in residential neighborhoods and no injuries to persons in the area and order was returned.
I googled Forest Park Review and found a report on the Forest Park, Illinois State Police and River Forest Police role in dealing with this incident as well as the immediately preceding disturbance in the Shell Station at Austin and Harrison involving a large number of persons jumping on cars and gas pumps in the station.
I very much want to thank the effective intervention to regain order by the police forces of Oak Park, River Forest, Cicero, Berwyn, Chicago, Elmwood Park and Forest Park as well as the Illinois State Police — and that calm effective 911 operator.
