State Senator Don Harmon and State Rep. Camille Lilly have scheduled a public meeting Oct. 5 to present the latest updates on the hospital’s status and to gather input from the public.
The event will take place at Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church, 820 N. Central Ave., in Chicago starting at 6 p.m. and run to 7:30. Also attending will be Deputy Governor Grace Hou. It comes in the wake of the settlement of the lawsuit between former West Suburban Medical Center owner Manoj Prasad and his partner and landlord Rathknaker Reddy Patlola, which saw Prasad replaced by Insight Healthcare of Chicago. West Sub remains closed while the new owners assess the situation.

According to Harmon and Lilly, the meeting is intended to focus on “gathering community input, sharing experiences, and discussing healthcare access solutions for the area.”
“Come hear information, share your experiences, and participate in the community conversation about healthcare access,” Lilly said in a Facebook post.
Harmon and Lilly had previously declined to attend a public meeting held at Malcolm X College earlier this month, saying in a joint statement on Aug. 31 that the meeting was inappropriately sited outside the area West Suburban Medical Center serves, which is Chicago’s far West Side neighborhoods and near-west suburban communities.
The two legislators said they were “united in our commitment to this community and to ensuring residents have a meaningful voice in what comes next. The community deserves more than a seat in the audience. The community deserves a seat at the table.”
