Luke Menacho scored three goals to lift the Fenwick boys soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Nazareth at the Fenwick Priory, Sept. 15. Menacho, who added an assist, has a team-leading 10 goals this season for the Friars (5-5).
Alex Krasson had a goal and two assists, and Zach Morgan and James Schrik each scored a goal. Goalkeepers Francis Lynch and Graham Milder combined to get the clean sheet.
Fenwick travels to St. Viator on Sept. 29. The Friars return to the Priory to host St. Ignatius on Oct. 1 before facing OPRF in the East Avenue Showdown at Concordia University, Oct. 3.
Fenwick boys golf
The Fenwick boys golf team finished 14th at the Chicago Catholic League tournament held Wedgewood Golf Club in Joliet, Sept. 21. Senior Alex Kulisek was the Friars’ top golfer, shooting a round of 76 to place 21st. Following Kulisek was sophomore Marco Cefalu, who carded a 79 to finish 42nd.
Senior James Papp shot an 81 to finish 60th, and senior Jay Raber along with sophomore Peter Sweeney tied for 85th as each shot an 85.
Girls golf
OPRF defeated Fenwick 177-199 in a dual at the Oak Park Country Club, Sept. 15.
Senior Nadia Vattana won medalist honors for the Huskies with a round of 39. Vattana’s teammate, junior Maeve Gibbs, and Fenwick senior Mairin Sweeney tied for second as each shot a 43.
The following day, OPRF defeated Hinsdale South 168-186. Vattana had a round of 33, two under par, to again get medalist honors.
