The Honorable Arthur C. Perivolidis, 84, of Mount Prospect, died peacefully in his home, surrounded by family on Aug. 29, 2026. Born on Nov. 1, 1941 in Oak Park, he grew up in an apartment above the storefronts near the corner of North Boulevard and Oak Park Avenue.
He served as an associate circuit court judge in Cook County for 36 years, spending most of his time in the probate division where he was fondly known as the “Peacemaker of Probate.” His passion for bringing families together during what was arguably the most difficult time in their lives propelled him to a successful and rewarding career. A decades-long resident of Mount Prospect, he took pride in his community and served as an active member of various organizations and charities helping others in need.
Art Perivolidis is survived by Phyllis Perivolidis (née Pergakes), his wife of 56 years; his two children, Chris (Jorie) Perivolidis and Marisa Nash; his three grandchildren, Reese, Jane, and Allison; and he had many cherished canine companions throughout the years, including Snowball, Molly, and his grand-pup, Foster. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Bess Shizas and Janet Reyes; many nieces, nephews; and other family and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Antonia Perivolidis; his two brothers, Stanley (Peggy) Perry and George (Evelyn) Perivolidis; and his brothers-in-law, Spero Shizas and José Reyes.
Visitation was held on Sept. 2 at the Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 1104 Waukegan Road in Glenview. A funeral service followed at Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 1401 Wagner Road, Glenview. Interment at the Elmwood Cemetery, 2905 Thatcher Ave., River Grove.
Memorial donations may be made in Judge Art Perivolidis’ name to either the Humane Society or the Gary Sinise Foundation.
