Dominic Eugene Phillips, 60, died on Aug. 2, 2026, in Oak Park. Born on May 11, 1966, to Dominic and Constance Phillips, his life was a vibrant tapestry. He grew up in a close-knit Italian/Greek family, surrounded by siblings Toni Hagins (Mike), the late Marijo Lopez (Tony), and Gina Phillips. Known as “Uncle Dom” or “U.D.” by his nieces and nephews — Tina, Mike, Tony, Nick, Adam, Ashley, Jennifer, and his nephew, the late Andrew. They recall his infectious sense of humor and unforgettable Kermit the Frog impressions. He was also uncle to many great-nieces and great-nephews.
His deep bond with his longtime partner, Jennifer Hocking, provided a foundation of love and companionship. They shared a love of fishing and crabbing on their trips to Florida. Together they created a life of warmth, mutual respect and trust.
He was also a dedicated caregiver to his mother Constance during her later years.
A proud alumnus of Oak Park and River Forest High School, he was a talented football player who had the honor of playing with his teammates at Soldier Field, a memory he carried with pride.
Following high school, he attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish, South Dakota, where he began to explore his passions and interests. His professional journey showcased his entrepreneurial spirit as the owner of Creative Innovations. He also had a passion for cooking that brought him immense joy, one of the many ways he expressed care, creativity, and love.
A celebration of Dominic’s life will be held at a later date to honor his memory and his life.
