Thomas J. Pohl, 73, died on May 20 after a long illness. He grew up in Oak Park with his three brothers, Bill, Richard and Patrick, and attending Ascension Grade School and Fenwick High School. He met Susan, the love of his life, in 1972 at a New Year’s Eve party. They started dating a few months later and married in 1980. They had their son, Andrew, in 1987. Tom was a playful and attentive dad, especially enjoying those sweet years. He worked many years in the construction industry, owning his own company. He loved music and attended many concerts with Susan over the years. He had a reel-to-reel recording device and recorded his favorite artists. He and Susan loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, going there several times over the years.

His other love was golf! He started learning to play as a very small child and played as often as he could. Even as he became more ill, he still played occasionally with brother Patrick and best buddy, Pat P. Tom won first place in a World Golf League competition in Florida on Feb. 26, 2005. He was so proud and happy about that accomplishment. He enjoyed eating Susan’s great cooking and watching his beloved golf on TV the last few years. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial visitation was held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at Linhart Funeral Home in Berwyn.
