Thomas Edward Grosspietsch, 66, of Oak Park, died on July 15, 2026. Born on Aug. 6, 1959, he was an unassuming, award-winning art director by day and Superman of Chicago’s inline skating community by night. His passion for spreading the gospel of skating inspired legions of enthusiasts to join him in exploring and enjoying the rich history of Chicago, the city he loved, on wheels. Known for his Chicago-themed Friday Night Road Raves as longtime leader of Windy City Skaters and his competitive racing on the world circuit with Team Rainbo, he was equally devoted to his large family, which includes his mother, Margo, 10 brothers and sisters, and 25 nieces and nephews. His family, friends, and colleagues will remember Tom’s authenticity, friendship, and loyalty. He was preceded in death by his father, John and his brother, Joseph.
