Tonight (July 22), and Wednesday, Aug. 19, you have an opportunity to enjoy some excellent films and support an Oak Park cultural treasure. The Oak Park IL Film Festival will present Film Festival Favorites at the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association, 178 Forest Ave. This is one of two evenings when the festival will have encore presentations of some of the films that were award winners our first two years. Whether you didn’t have the chance to see them before, or would like to see them again, anyone who likes film should enjoy them.
Tonight we will show the feature Breakup Season, about the complications of romantic relationships, and the multi-award-winning suspenseful short “Stairs.” The August program will feature several shorts, followed by a Q&A with the directors. Come for both. Doors open at 6:30. Buy a glass of wine or beer and chat with other movie lovers. At 7, hear a brief preview of this September’s festival, followed by the films, and ending with a brief Q&A. Admission is by donation, with a $10 suggested minimum. Donations of $25 or more will be acknowledged in our program and on our website. Cash, check or credit card accepted. Those who cannot attend are encouraged to go to http://www.opilff.org to become a donor or business sponsor and support the nonprofit festival or sign up for our newsletter.
