Dennis Martin Boughton, 75, died peacefully on June 10, 2026. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he spent his teen and many of his adult years in California. From his parents, he inherited humility, a sense of humor, an understanding of the value of hard work, and a kind, calm, loving presence. A dreamer who enjoyed his career as an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, he was an avid reader, a chess player, lover of animals and good food, adventure, the ocean, mountains, and being with family.
Dennis is survived by his sons, Brian (Gretchen) and Max; his daughter, Grace; his former wife, Julie; his sisters, Rebecca Boughton and Collinda Fields; his grandchildren, Bethany Chenoweth and Zachary Boughton; his great-grandchildren, Sylas, Lilah, and Azriel; his aunt, Ruth Given; his brothers-in-law, Howard Kahn and Jeffrey Kahn; his mother-in-law, Ellen Kahn; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lucy Boughton; his brother, Mark Boughton; and his beloved granddaughter, Olivia Grace Boughton.
A memorial service was held on June 14 at Oak Park Temple B’nai Abraham Zion, 1235 N. Harlem Ave., Oak Park. The family will sit Shiva at the family home at 1835 N. Neva Ave. in Chicago, starting on June 14.
As is customary in Jewish tradition, and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Dennis’ memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation (Parkinson.org) or to the Humane League (humaneleague.org).
May his memory be a blessing.
