Oak Park police are investigating a reported armed robbery in the village.
A Chicago resident was riding a bicycle at 10:15 p.m. Friday, May 8 when a man stopped the victim near the intersection of Harvard Street and Austin Boulevard. The man then pulled out a sharp object and began striking the victim, according to police.
After a struggle, the man took cash from the victim and fled west down Harvard Street. The total estimated loss in the robbery was $100, according to police.
Attempted ATM theft
Oak Park police are investigating an incident in which four burglars attempted to steal an ATM out of a local business in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 7.
Two men gained entry to the business in the 400 block of Austin Boulevard using crowbars while another stood lookout on the sidewalk and the fourth remained in the driver’s seat of a KIA SUV. The two men who entered the business and tried to remove an ATM failed. The group fled the scene south down Austin Boulevard, according to police.
Aggravated battery arrest
Oak Park police arrested a 36-year-old Chicago man charged with two counts of aggravated battery in connection with a reported attack in the village last week.
The man reportedly attacked two people in the first block of Madison Street, one Chicago resident and one Park Forest resident. Police arrested the man shortly before 4:30 p.m. May 5, according to police.

Anyone named in these reports has only been charged with a crime and cases have not yet been adjudicated.
