According to two sources who asked to remain anonymous an Oak Park and River Forest High School student has allegedly been taking videos or photographs of the buttocks of female students at the school and posting the videos on Tik Tok.
On Friday, May 1 the videoing of the female students became the talk of the school and one student was suspected of taking the videos. On Monday morning OPRF Principal Lynda Parker sent a message to staff warning teachers of misinformation or incomplete information about who might have done it and asking them to tamp down discussion of the subject.
“Last week, the school was alerted to an incident of female students being photographed/filmed in an inappropriate manner and without their consent,” Parker wrote in her message that was obtained by Wednesday Journal. “The Deans are still working on this case. Unfortunately, we are running into a lot of misinformation being shared publicly by those inside and outside of the building which is leading to a student and their family being targeted without regard to due process.”
“In addition, if you hear any students speaking about this topic in your spaces and you need support addressing this, please reach out to any dean,” Parker wrote.
The Oak Park Police Department was made aware on Monday of the alleged filming or photographing and is conducting its own investigation.
“At this time it remains under investigation and OPPD is working to identify all involved parties who have reported to the police,” said Dan Yopchick, village government spokesman, in an email. “The school is also handling its own investigation internally.”
A spokesperson for OPRF, Karin Sullivan, said Tuesday morning in an email to the Journal, that the investigation was ongoing and the school did not have “anything to share at this time.”
