In celebration of Black History Month, the village’s office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is hosting a free screening and discussion of the film “Origin” Feb. 26.
The event will be at 6 p.m. at Classic Cinemas Lake Theatre, located at 1022 Lake St. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Those interested can reserve a spot online.
“Origin” is based on the book “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents,” written by Isabel Wilkerson, a Pulitzer Prize winner, according to a news release. The film explores discrimination both in and outside the United States.
The movie is rated PG-13 for material involving racism, violence, disturbing images, language and smoking, according to a news release. After the showing, attendees can engage in a discussion about the themes of the movie.
