The Oak Park and River Forest High School boys swimming and diving team took second place in the West Suburban Conference Silver Division meet at York, Feb. 2, with 257 points.

Freshman Jack Murphy was the Huskies’ sole individual winner for the evening as he took the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.79 seconds. He also finished fourth in the 200 individual medley in 1:58.35.

Senior Adan Pedraza was second in the 50 freestyle (22.24) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.19). Classmate Lars Rauch took second in the 100 freestyle (48.22) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:47.27).

Junior Will Keyes had a pair of third-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (53.64) and 200 freestyle (1:46.40) as did classmate Pablo Pareja in the 200 individual medley (1:56.40) and 500 freestyle (4:46.53).

Other top-six OPRF individual finishers were junior Josh Wood in the 100 breaststroke (4th, 1:03.95), and senior Brady Sorg (5th, 54.64) and junior Lucas Puntillo (6th, 55.75) in the 100 butterfly.

All three of the Huskies’ relays finished second. The 200 medley relay of Pareja, Pedraza, Sorg, and Keyes had a time of 1:36.61. The 200 freestyle team of Wood, Sorg, Pedraza, and Rauch clocked in at 1:28.88. And the 400 freestyle unit of Pareja, Keyes, Murphy, and Rauch had a time of 3:13.13.

Fenwick

At the Metro Catholic Aquatic Conference championship, held Feb. 4 at Loyola Academy, Fenwick came in fourth place with a total of 281 points.

Although the Friars did not win any events, fine performances were turned in. Senior Carter Fask took second in the 50 freestyle with a time of 22.04 seconds. Junior Finn Munley was fourth in the 100 freestyle (49.58) and sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:49.76).

Sophomore Patrick Rhatigan was fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:49.25), while classmate Jack Posluszny took sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.90).

Each of Fenwick’s relays had top-five finishes. The 200 freestyle unit of Fask, senior Code Podgorski, junior Thomas Heit, and Rhatigan took third in a time of 1:30.58.

The 400 freestyle group of Fask, Podgorski, Munley, and Rhatigan came in fourth with a time of 3:20.81. And the 200 medley team of sophomore Mikey Neumann, Posluszny, Heit, and Fask was fifth in 1:42.63.

OPRF and Fenwick compete in the IHSA Leyden Township sectional on Feb. 17.
