The five candidates running for three open seats on Oak Park’s village board will take part in a candidate forum sponsored by Wednesday Journal on March 16.
The event will be held, appropriately, in the council chambers at Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison St. The forum begins at 7 p.m. The event will be live and in person. It will also be streamed via Zoom.
A recorded version of the forum will be available soon afterward on the Election Guide page at OakPark.com
Doris Davenport, local radio host, will moderate the event. Davenport hosts “The Doris Davenport Show” each Sunday evening on WPNA (AM 1490).
Those in attendance will be able to offer written questions for the candidates.
There are three incumbents in the race: Susan Buchanan, Jim Taglia and Cory Wesley. Also running are Simone Boutet and Brian Straw. Boutet previously served as a village trustee.
While Election Day is April 4, early voting begins next week. Oak Park’s village hall is an early voting site. Full details on early voting can be found in the Election Guide in today’s Journal.
Trustee Jim Taglia recently underwent a medical procedure for a back injury that will preclude his participation in the forum.
This forum, one of four presented this election season by Growing Community Media, is sponsored by the Good Heart Work Smart Foundation. The foundation’s gift is also underwriting the Election Guide appearing today in Wednesday Journal and other papers owned by GCM.
