
William Gerard “Bill” Fox, an Oak Park resident and master carpenter, who worked on many historic homes and won numerous historic preservation awards for his work in Oak Park and River Forest, died on June 30, 2022. Born on April 28, 1959, he grew up in Chicago and was a proud Eagle Scout as a young man.
“His life was so gentle, and the elements so mixed in him, that nature might stand up and say ‘This Was a Man.’” (Shakespeare)
Bill is survived by his children, Andrew, Conor, Adam, Isabel and Emma; his former wife, Laura Sanderlin Fox; and his life partner, Sheri “Hey Sher” McMahon. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Elizabeth, Edward, Vernon and Robert, as well as his parents, Catherine and Richard Fox. His surviving siblings are Chris (Irene), Kevin, Michael, Anne Marie and Pete Gleason, along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Sept. 11, at Mater Christi Catholic Parish, 2401 S. 10th Ave., North Riverside.
