Richard Murphy, 87, a resident of Oak Park for 60 years, died on Feb. 26, 2022. He attended Fenwick High School and went on to John Carroll University, where he met his bride, Laverne. He served in the army and later attended Loyola University Chicago. He was known for his wit and sense of humor as well as his servant’s heart. He served his family, his church and his community. He loved Oak Park and all it had to offer.
Richard is survived by his four children, Anne Ryan; Mary Ellen McGuire and her husband Brian; Amy Rosten; Ric Murphy and his wife Aimee; his grandchildren, Jessica Ryan, Andrew, Brendan, Caileigh & Bella McGuire, Jillian, Liam & Ava Rosten; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Laverne, his wife of 58 years, and his middle daughter, Meg, who died in 2019.
A wake will be held this Friday, March 4, at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home in Riverside, followed by a Mass on Saturday, March 5 at St. Bernardine Church in Forest Park.
