John Puccini

John S Puccini, 81, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died on Jan. 26, 2022 at home in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he had lived with his son, Jeffrey Puccini and his wife, Atcharaporn for the past few years. Born on Sept. 10, 1940 to Sylvia and Serge Puccini in Cicero, Illinois, he attended schools there and graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1967. He married Margaret (Peg) Bailey on April 13, 1968 and they lived at 311 S. Lombard from (1974 to 2015).

His professional life was spent as an accountant, working as the comptroller for Deublin Company for the last 25 years of his career. In addition, he did tax returns for individuals and small businesses in the community. His advice was to always declare all income (yes, even that rented out parking space next to the garage), and then be creative with the deductions. John and Peg were devoted to their friends in Oak Park and loved sharing their hospitality with them. He made the long daily commute to the northern suburbs for work so that his family could grow up in Oak Park. His sons are ever so grateful; it has made all the difference.

John is survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Atcharaporn) and Sam (Shelley); his grandson, Jackson Puccini; and his sisters, Lee (Paul) Krueger and Sheila Ramsdell. He is mourned by his wife’s surviving siblings, Barbara Kessel, Buz Bailey and Martha Plog. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peg Puccini, in 2018 and his brother, Roy Puccini, in 2020.
