Mary DiSomma—mother of four, committed philanthropist and cookbook author—is passionate about baking cookies. Last year she shared 130 of her favorite cookie recipes with the publication of A Gift of Cookies: Recipes to Share with Family and Friends. Because she’s as passionate about helping children as she is about baking, DiSomma is donating 100% of the proceeds from sales of the book to charity – including Hephzibah.

DiSomma loves cookies because they bring back fond memories of the warmth and comfort of childhood. “Unfortunately, not every child gets to experience that,” says the Hephzibah benefactor and friend. “I was adopted at birth and raised by a loving family, but I know how important it is for children to have a place where they can feel safe, loved and cared for.”

Not satisfied with merely donating funds, Mary is an ambassador for Hephzibah, speaking honestly and openly about her care for their work and the children and families they serve.  Her advocacy has brought national media attention to Hephzibah and its mission.

Heartfelt philanthropists and caring community members, Mary with her husband Bill were recognized with Hephzibah’s Heart of Gold Award last year. The award is presented each year to honor those who have enhanced the well-being of disadvantaged children.

“We are grateful for her passion and partnership, and the children at Hephzibah Home are very grateful for her delicious cookie recipes.”
