Costumed critters, ready to trick-or-treat. | Provided

Listen up, trick-or-treaters! The time has come to develop your strategy to get the best and most out of the Halloween holiday. Before establishing your route, consider establishing your timeline first, as River Forest and Oak Park have designated different trick-or-treating hours for Oct. 31, which falls on a Sunday this year.

Candy collectors should plan to go to Oak Park first, where trick-or-treating begins at 1 p.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m.

Once your costumed coven of trick-or-treaters has exhausted the candy offerings of Oak Park, head over to the Village of River Forest, where trick-or-treating will be taking place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Nothing is scarier than getting sick, so the village of River Forest asks that trick-or-treaters make sure to maintain social distancing and wear masks – both the scary kind and the healthy kind — regardless of vaccination status. Also, keep that hand sanitizer at the ready!
