Building on the TakeOut 25 concept, we are kicking off the Donate 25 campaign. We are asking Oak Park and River Forest residents to support local charities with your stimulus checks. Please donate $25 (or more) to one or more charities of your choice. For the fortunate folks for whom the money is not a life changer, please consider donating the entire amount. As WBEZ says during pledge drives, even a donation of $10 is welcome, but please donate what you can comfortably afford.
Some deserving organizations in our area include Housing Forward, Beyond Hunger, Hephzibah Children’s Association and the Economy Shop, just to name a few. Visit the websites of these and other worthy charities to learn about their missions and how to make a donation. This can be a teachable moment. Involve the children in your family in the process.
There are approximately 25,000 households in Oak Park and River Forest, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures. If only a fraction of households join the Donate 25 campaign, think what an impact we could have!
Please join us in supporting local charities.
