
James (Jim) R. Marshall, 95, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died peacefully on March 24, 2021 at his daughter’s home, surrounded by family. Born on March 1, 1926 to Anna (Driscoll) and John Marshall of Dalton, Massachusetts, he attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, earning a degree in Chemistry and a masters in Food Technology. In college he met Alice O’Neil, the love of his life. They were married in 1951 and lived happily together for 65 years until her death in 2017. They raised seven children in Oak Park. It was his job with American Can Co. that brought him to Oak Park from Tampa, Florida. In addition, he worked for Home Juice Company until he started his own juice business and an ambulance company, which he ran successfully for almost 20 years. He and his wife were also avid golfers and could often be seen playing at Columbus Park and the Oak Park Country Club.
Jim leaves behind his children, Mary and (Peter Blanc), Frances Marshall, John Marshall (deceased), Anne Marshall and (Angel Kustief), Jim and (Kathi Marshall), Tom Marshall and Paul Marshall (deceased), 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also remained close to his two sisters back east, Margaret Signer (deceased) and Mary Shultis.
