I thoughtfully support Lou Anne Johannesson for Village Clerk of Oak Park. My support is predicated on my direct and extensive experience as a former member and president of the District 97 school board and former member and chair of IGOV, the Intergovernmental Body of Oak Park.
The village clerk’s essential responsibilities relate to maintaining village board meetings, official legislative records, certifications, the village seal, and village compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act, which seamlessly intersect with the established and accomplished skill sets Lou Anne demonstrated in her extensive public service. Furthermore, her interpersonal, ethical, and technical capacities to work with six boards and serve villagers meets our community’s expectations of intergovernmental cooperation and public service.
Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. asked, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” My experience with Lou Anne as a person and public servant assures me that as our village clerk, she will respond to Dr. King’s question with a service-oriented mindset and ethical, responsible actions.
As a longtime resident of Oak Park, I embrace our village’s commitment to grassroots public service and leadership, rooted in collaborative and innovative thinking, designed to support and serve the public. In support of and respect for our village character, I will cast my vote for Lou Anne Johannesson for Oak Park Village Clerk.
