I enthusiastically endorse Christina Waters to be our next Village Clerk. She has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to this community, has a positive, even-keeled temperament, is smart and pragmatic, and will get off to a fast start given that she’s already serving as deputy clerk.
I first got to know Christina through our PTO volunteer efforts, and witnessed what a community leader she was, not only for academic equity but also for health equity. For example, she spearheaded the FB group “Workout Warriors,” inspiring many of us in the community to get up and moving. We connected again when she enthusiastically took up my suggestion that she participate in the OP-RF Community Foundation’s Leadership Lab to further cultivate her already demonstrated community leadership skills. Not surprisingly, her team’s topic was titled, “Oak Park Needs You: Diversifying Representation in Civic Leadership.” As a Black woman, renter, and single mom, her candidacy embodies this call to action.
Most importantly, Christina has the temperament to serve. You know those people who are magnetic with can-do positivity and intelligence? Who are quietly confident, kind, funny, and lift up those around her? She is that rare gem of a person, and we are lucky that she is willing to run for office. Please join me in supporting Christina Waters for Oak Park Village Clerk.
