Lisa Gillis is a longtime River Forest resident who believes in giving back to the community. Currently, she is chairperson of the River Forest Sustainability Commission, member of the Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society, including three years on their board of directors in charge of marketing, adjunct professor and guest lecturer at Dominican University, and founding member of the Keystone Triangle Neighborhood Association.
Now Lisa seeks to give back to the community as village trustee. She will bring to the board table her years of experience working on both professional and volunteer teams. As a 30-year business professional, she has experience in strong functional team leadership and as a skilled collaborator. She understands the necessity to maintain a focus on the big picture of what is best for River Forest, all the while engaging community members at a personal level.
She recognizes COVID recovery here must include the social as well as the financial. As village trustee, Lisa will work to increase revenue sourced from sales tax rather than property tax, through support of our local businesses and look for opportunities along North Avenue, Lake Street and Madison Street.
Her time spent with Dominican students will prove invaluable as River Forest moves forward with our DEI commitment and our partnership with the university to expand truth, racial healing and transformation efforts.
I urge everyone to vote for Lisa Gillis for River Forest Village Trustee.
