Tom Cofsky’s experience is critical to District 200. His leadership is vital to help the district stay the course on essential strategies. Tom’s experience as a leader has never been more critical as OPRF makes necessary investments to ensure its long-term financial sustainability, implements substantial curriculum improvements, and continues the journey to address its long-term equity challenges.
Over the last 15 years, I have spent considerable time working at the board level for both District 97 and D200. These two boards arguably have a significant and lasting impact on the Oak Park and River Forest community, both through our young adults’ education and the financial challenges our community has faced and will face as we recover from COVID-19 impacts. Even in a four-year term, it’s a challenge for board members to get up to speed and genuinely understand the key levers that drive the issues in their district. As a board member with eight years of experience, Tom will bring this perspective to the board table in ways that balance the needs of stakeholders and help make every board member better.
During my years on the board, I found Tom a trusted adviser who I listened to carefully to understand the key issues. He has helped guide the district while faculty, superintendents, and other board members have come and gone. He has been a part of the OPRF board through some of the most challenging times in recent history. This kind of experience is rare and something our community should value and applaud. Tom is deeply committed to OPRF and will help guide it down a path that balances the interests of all our students, our community and our faculty.
OPRF needs Cofsky’s experience and leadership and the stability this offers. I feel this is so important in the uncertain times that now face us all. I hope you will join me in supporting Tom and casting your votes to keep D200 on a path implementing the changes it needs.
