COVID-19 continued to spread throughout Oak Park and River Forest this past week. In Oak Park 138 residents tested positive for coronavirus since Nov. 3, according to the Oak Park Department of Public Health. With the latest cases, Oak Park has had 1,173 residents test positive for COVID-19 since March 18, when the OPDPH started reporting cases.

River Forest’s COVID-19 database indicates that 31 village residents tested positive for COVID-19 since Nov.  3.

Oak Park and River Forest’s positivity rates have soared since last week, according to Northwestern University’s COVID-19 database. Oak Park saw its positivity rate go from 7.04 percent on Nov. 3 to 8.75 percent on Nov. 8. River Forest’s positivity rate, which was at 3.98 percent on Nov. 4, spiked to 7.24 percent on Nov. 8.

Two Oak Park residents who tested positive for COVID-19 died this past week, marking the village’s first COVID-19 related deaths since Oct. 23. The two fatalities were men in their 90s, according to the village. Both lived at Berkeley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, 6909 W. North Ave., Oak Park.

River Forest’s COVID-19 database does not display the number of residents who died after testing positive for COVID-19.
