Chef Joe Farina, known for his Chicago-style Italian fare, is bringing Victory Italian to Oak Park. Set to open in the former home of Two Brothers Social Tap, 100 S. Marion St., Victory Italian is poised to bring throwback charm and an arsenal of classic Italian dishes to the Pleasant District on Monday, Oct. 19.
The Oak Park location will be a sister restaurant to Victory Italian’s River North establishment, as well as Victory Tap and Victory Meat and Seafood. The former lead chef for Rosebud Restaurants and current culinary mind behind Victory Restaurant Group, Farina grew up in nearby Melrose Park.
“Chef believes that Victory will be a wonderful compliment to the robust mix of culinary venues within Oak Park,” said Mary Anne, Victory Restaurant Group brand manager. “To be able to open one of his locations alongside his favorites such as Poor Phil’s and Peterson’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream seems like the perfect opportunity to share his special brand of Chicago-Italian with a community he loves.”
Farina is committed to keeping Italian food simple by letting the flavors of local and seasonal ingredients shine through. In addition to offering an array of signature dishes like burrata salad and crispy brick chicken, Victory Italian is known for serving up Italian inspired menu items with distinctly American origins, like spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan. Victory’s Wine Spectator Award winning wine list and classic cocktail assortment will round out the menu offerings.
Curious diners should expect to discover updates and cosmetic changes to the Marion Street space. Victory Italian’s décor will evoke the upscale, yet family-friendly vibe popularized by the Italian-American restaurants of the 1920s and 1930s. A chef’s table will offer guests an interactive dining experience and bar seating will also boast open views of the kitchen.
Though excited to bring their vast restaurant experience to the Oak Park community, the uncertainty of opening during a global pandemic has been challenging. Victory Restaurant Group aims to remain fluid and ready to adapt to all necessary changes to open and run a business in these uncertain times.
