As of 3 p.m., Sunday, May 31, Oak Park Police have blocked off Chicago Avenue at the request of the Chicago Police Department to prevent people from entering the city of Chicago, according to Commander Dave Jacobson of the Oak Park Police Department.

Chicago Avenue will be closed until further notice.

Mass displays protesting the death of Minnesota man George Floyd have spread throughout the nation – with teargassing, looting and rioting accompanying the protests.

Looting has begun on Madison, Cicero and Chicago Avenues in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood.

This is a developing story.
