Oak Park Public Health Director Mike Charley announced on April 27 that an Oak Park woman in her 60s has died – becoming the village’s eighth fatality likely caused COVID-19. The Cook County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.

Along with the eighth fatality, another five Oak Park residents have received positive COVID-19 test results, according to the April 29 village announcement. Oak Park now has a total of 156 cases. However, that number could change as public health officials verify residency. They range in age from 20s to 70s.

Due to privacy laws, there is no additional information to report.

As with the previously reported cases, it also released the following announcement:

“The Oak Park Department of Public Health is working closely with officials from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), investigating and notifying anyone who may have had exposure to the individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Local public health officials, hospitals and first responders are following protocols consistent with the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”
