On Sept. 11, the 18th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on America, our villages will mark LemonAid for the 18th year. This spontaneous response by kids in River Forest after the horror of the attacks continues and grows into one of the great community-building and fund-raising efforts we know. Residents of the 700 block of Bonnie Brae in River Forest will host what is still a kid-driven festival of food, music and activities. As always, two very worthy local charities will benefit from the tens of thousands raised. This year it will be the legendary Hephzibah Children’s Association and Beat the Streets Chicago, a West Side nonprofit, raising up kids through wrestling.

Be there. Be generous.
