The Fenwick High School boys basketball team cruised to a 82-48 win over Taft on Senior Night. Senior Michael O’Laughlin led the Friars with 15 points. Sam Daniels (14 points), AJ Nixon (12 points) and Billy Bruce (10 points) also scored in double figures. Fenwick (18-7) enters the postseason as the fourth seed in the Class 4A Riverside-Brookfield Sectional that starts next week.

Fenwick girls basketball

The Friars defeated Westinghouse 61-40 in the semifinals of the Class 3A St. Joseph Sectional on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The Friars face top-seeded Nazareth in the sectional championship game on Thursday, Feb. 22 in Westchester. 

OPRF boys basketball

The red-hot Huskies capped off a perfect season in the West Suburban Conference with a 53-52 win against Hinsdale South in a crossover game.

Malachi Ross and Dashon Enoch scored 12 points apiece to power the Silver Division champs past the Gold champion Hornets. Sidney Allgood contributed 11 points and Anthony Roberts’ free throw with 0.4 seconds left was the game-winning point. Defensively, Charlie Hoehne did an outstanding job containing Iowa State-bound Zion Griffin of Hinsdale South.

OPRF wrestling

The Huskies’ bid for a fourth state title in five years in the IHSA dual team state tournament started off in auspicious fashion on Tuesday, Feb. 20. OPRF overwhelmed visiting Maine South 60-7.

The Huskies will face Minooka Saturday (9 a.m.) in Bloomington at 9 a.m. in the state quarterfinals. The semifinals are at 2 p.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
