The Grace Lutheran cross country program has made their mark not only on the local middle school running scene but nationally as well. The Vikings finished 8th in the girls and 11th in the boys races at the Lutheran Cross Country Middle School National Championships held at Concordia University in Mequon, Wis. on October 24.

Paxton Ferencak (7th/8th grade), Owen Augustine (6th grade) and Zawadi Brown (6th grade and under) earned Lutheran Middle School All-American recognition with outstanding performances for the Vikings. Ferencak recorded a time 12 minutes, 14.9 seconds while Augustine (12:41.34) and Brown also ran very well.

The three top runners reflected both team’s overall success.

“Both teams exceeded my expectations,” head coach Rich Brooks said. “It’s a great group of young overachievers.”
