The April 29 front-page article, “Tiny cell towers could be a boon for OP,” does not exhibit balanced reporting. It presents the concept of cellphone companies renting space on light poles and public buildings as totally positive, with the focus on phone reception and money.
What about the impact on our health?
There are many health professionals and researchers who disagree that the EMFs from cellphones and cellphone towers are safe. Not only are we in a physical body, we are an electromagnetic biofield. We are energy at our most basic level. We are impacted by EMF radiation — electromagnetic fields, frequencies, force. It’s a form of microwave. Cellphones are microwave phones. Cellphone towers are large microwaves.
EMFs are energetic interference. Our very cells need to communicate their needs clearly, without energetic interference. Otherwise they can’t get the nutrients they need or release toxins efficiently. Calcium ions also leak from cells, which will then weaken cell membranes and unglue them.
Even low levels of EMFs can depress the body’s production of melatonin, a super-antioxidant hormone involved in sleep, thyroid health and the immune system. The brain, an electromagnetic organ, is highly affected by these EMF frequencies. Many diseases and conditions can and do occur from these underlying disruptions. Please do your own research.
“The additional coverage the antennas provide range from about 500 to 1,000 feet,” Bud Blinick said in the WJ article, and “each carrier could install 20 to 40 ‘nodes,’ so as many as 160 could be headed to Oak Park.” What’s a node? I’m reminded of the Bill Cosby “Noah’s Ark” skit in the early ’60s, “What a cubit?” Why aren’t more people questioning these things? Technology is cool, but it’s not always benign.
The article states, “The agreement also notes that in addition to light poles, the small cell antennas could be installed on village hall, the Public Works Service Center, fire stations, pumping stations, Dole Library and various village-owned parking garages.” Whoa. There are a lot of people in these buildings. What is the impact of these EMFs to these people and their health? What is the range that these EMFs travel? What health effects can occur? What protective devices will be installed by the industry to protect these people?
Some researchers and teachers to reference are Drs. Samuel Milham, Magda Havas, Dietrich Klinghardt, Joseph Mercola, W. Ross Adey, Leif Salford and George Carlo. Authors include Ann Louise Gittleman, B. Blake Levitt, Devra Davis and Donna Fisher. There are many others. We need to look beyond the industry messaging and biased research.
If cellphone EMFs are so safe, why does the Telecommunications Act of 1996 prohibit any lawsuits by individuals or municipalities for cellphone tower placement or injuries? That should be a clue, folks.
A cell tower decision should not always be about technology and money. Our health is actually a form of our collective wealth, too. If we want to use lots of technology, let’s also learn about and use devices and strategies to protect ourselves and our kids. I encourage this discussion. Imagine the interesting science projects that could occur in our schools from this exploration.
Our kids can teach us all.
