Last weekend, Noteworthy, Oak Park and River Forest High School’s dynamic “show choir” earned the title of Grand Champion at the Midwest Nationals Show Choir Competition. The choir edged out 13 other choirs for the honor, also winning Best Vocals and Best Choreography at the competition.

The choir, just in its fourth year, is led by choreographer/director Amber Hooper and vocal director Cameron Burgess. Students Margot Frank, Rachel Pospisil, Maggie Lynch, Alonte Williams and Yohana Ansari-Thomas crafted part of the choreography for the choir’s award-winning set.

Noteworthy comprises a “highly selective group of singers, dancers, and live band members, which performs in the Oak Park and River Forest community and Chicago,” according to its webpage. The public will have a chance to see the award-winning performers at an upcoming Noteworthy concert this Thursday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the OPRF auditorium, 201 N. Scoville Ave.
