D97 set to name curriculum directors Aug. 19

Oak Park elementary school District 97 is set to name new administrators next month for its curriculum department. As previously reported, D97 is revamping its curriculum department with the addition of two new curriculum director posts and a deputy superintendent to oversee the department. Supt. Al Roberts says he expects to have recommendations for the directors at the school board’s Aug. 19 regular meeting. The hope is to hire the deputy superintendent that evening as well, Roberts says, adding that candidate screenings for that post will begin this week.
“On paper, the field looks pretty strong, but sometimes that differs from reality, which is why I was very pleased with the work on the directors,” he says. “As I indicated earlier, given how late we started in this routine, if we don’t find the right person we’ll delay the process until we find that right person. Expediency is not as important as finding the right administrator.”
As for the director finalists, Roberts says “We think the pool was extremely strong, and we’ll be bringing to the board a recommendation for two people who are eminently qualified and experienced.”
